I agree with you 100%. I also love snakes as well as other reptiles and currently keep 14 snakes, 8 desert tortoises, 5 box turtles, 10 red eared sliders, 13 leopard geckos and various amphibians and invertibrates. To have this right taken away from me would be devistating. Some people think I am weird for loving reptiles and particularly snakes so much. Personally I think people who don't like animals are the weird ones. I have never met a person who did not like animals that I liked, but I have met plenty of people who love animals that i found a common bond with. :0)

:I love and keep snakes. Sadly, there are many people out there who do not like snakes, or who are trying to put a ban on keeping snakes. With all animals, the keeper is responsible for the animal. The poor judgment of a few snake keepers should not make all snake keepers pay for their foolishness. In some states "all constrictor snakes" are banned. The vast majority of snakes are constrictors, and most of the lawmakers do not educate themselves on these animals. Many times, they create laws to appease one side of the story, and neglect the viewpoint of snake keepers. In addition, the people who sell snakes need to post information about these animals where they are being sold. A 4-foot Burmese will grow to 10 feet or more. I do not want my privilege to keep snakes to be taken away; I have spent years learning about their care and natural history. They are a part of my family, and to legally remove my “right” to keep them is near sighted, and wrong. If people have a problem with a snake keeper, they should prevent that particular person from keeping animals. Just with dogs and other more “common” animals, if the animal is mistreated or mishandled “in the case of dog and cock fights” the owners of the animals should pay the price.
