My hammie, Biggie Girl died today. She was the sweetest, smartest, most gentle hamster I have ever had. She loved to be held and petted. My husband is disabled and doesn't get around well so every evening I would take Biggie to him and she would sit in his lap while he petted her and talked to her. She was like a little kitten, you almost expected her to purr! When she started to get restless he would ask her if she wanted a treat and her little face would look up at him, waiting for me to bring something for him to give to her. She was 3 years old and I believe she had a stroke yesterday. She was completely fine until then. She just laid in her little house, breathing differently and shivering a little. She didn't seem to want to be held so we tooks turns talking softly to her about how much we loved her and how much joy she had given us. This morning she somehow made it to her favorite corner of her cage and just went to sleep. We are thankful that she is at peace now and didn't really suffer, but we all miss her so much. It is amazing how a tiny little thing like that can leave such a big hole in our lives and hearts. All of us cried, me, my husband, and my 2 teenage kids. Thank you Biggie for being such a good member of our family. We will miss you baby.
