I am so very sorry for the loss of your beloved Charlie. I think the joy of their love and life shared with us...is what gets us through the grief. Somehow..we go on..never forgetting..always remembering them and carrying their spirits in our hearts. Charlie sounds like he was your heart dog. He knew your every mood and shared your laughter, joy and tears. These "heart dogs" are very very special and when they leave us..part of our hearts go with them. I think that is the way it should be. They carry it with them until we are reunited with them someday when it is our time. Charlie is with you always. Please try and take care of yourself. Charlie would not want you to grieve to long..he would want you to smile remembering the happy times. Hold those precious memories close..and someday..when you least expect it..something will happen and the tears will turn into a smile...and it will be as if he is there saying see mom...look...I am still here always near watching over you always. Again...I am so very sorry. I do know how much it hurts. I lost four special furbabies this year..and there were days I asked myself why even go on. Inside me though..I knew as much as it hurt....my life was so very blessed to have had them here to share their heart and souls with me. God bless you. God Speed Charlie. May he be free and happy and running like the wind at the bridge.
