The Idaho Humane Society has taken 73 dogs, 90 have been moved to another site in Fruitland, and 20 have been taken to a shelter in Portland Oregon. This still leaves over 250 dogs at the 2nd Chance Shelter. 3 more dogs were found at the Erickson residence and taken to the shelter. More than 20 of the dogs taken to the Humane Society are pregnant and will be spayed before delivering their puppies. Only 113 of the dogs had to be put down, not the 150 as was previously stated.
Barbara Erickson has been released from jail but has been charged with 539 counts of misdemeanor animal neglect (big deal - it should have been criminal animal abuse and cruelty). She is also ordered to not have any animals in her possession.
On the good side, Zamzows (a local animal feed manufacture) has presented more than $10,000 in cash and supplies donated by customers to 2nd Chance. However they are now asking that donations be made to special bank accounts as there are some folks out there pretending to be from 2nd Chance and asking for donations. (How low can some people sink?)
