My dog holds his back arched too - its in response to the pain. For example, I know he isn't too good at the moment as he arched his back last night as he walked. It goes back to normal when he is feeling okay.

I'd be careful with the ball throwing - I've found that is one of the things that brings on his pain. But that is probably because he likes to pounce on the ball - a lot of sudden movement.

The Dog Whisperer is an okay book - not my all time favourite but interesting, and one of the better books all the same. Have you read Patricia McConnell's The Other End of the Leash? I really liked that. For plain brilliant reading - get If Bones Could Rain from the Sky by Suzanne Clothier - that was an unbelievable book.

I'm sure Jazmin's front legs will hold up just fine. They will probably just get stronger - from taking more weight.
