I read (I think it was the Dog Whisperer - not the Aussie one but the US or UK book - there are two by the same name!) that there was this experiment done about how many dogs have spinal problems (from soft-tissue damage, misaligned spines etc) - and it had amazing stats in it - something like 79% (from memory) of dogs that had aggressive or hyperactive tendencies had spinal problems.

It also made sense to me.. my dog had never been an aggressor - he was always the dog that got picked on - then he suddenly became really grumpy with other dogs - lunging at them etc. People wouldn't believe he was the same dog at first. I did some behavioural work with him and it got better - but it wasn't until i got him diagnosed that I went UHHUH... Whilst I do think his maturation had something to do with it, the pain was definately a big part of it. As he never actually tried to BITE another dog, just growl and pretend he was big and mean, it almost was like he was trying to pretend to be strong, cos he knew he was ill. We rarely have problems with him now. So, yes, I can see your view with Jazmin. But think about it, when we are feeling unwell, we are really grumpy too. Plus add to that their ancestry. A sick dog would often be left alone to die.... a sick dog couldn't survive... they couldn't whinge and moan and carry on like us humans do!

If you see any more interesting stats etc I'd be interested to know!
