Tebeau's check up went quite well, and for once not quite as bad as expected. His overall general condition is excellent and his weight is holding steady for the time being. He seems to have recovered really well from the hepatitis. The tooth I was worried about may or may not be chipped. The vet thought both sides looked symmetrical but agreed a chip was a possibility. However, he wants to give him a week to see if it settles on his own, just with his usual painkillers (which he hasn't needed for a while now, nice sunny weather!), if not then he's to get different pain medication and some antibiotics in case there is an infection in his mouth. Worse case scenario he'll need to be sedated and have some dental work done. He'll need anaethetised if he needs his chipped one out. All very worrying with an old guy with a heart murmur and dodgy kidneys and liver. Hence why the vet wants to try everything else before we go down that route. There is always the possibility he has root problems or an abcess some where we can't see, but the vet was pretty impressed at the condition of his teeth for an old boy. They aren't too bad at all, they're a bit mucky but his gums are healthy and his teeth are strong as far as we can tell. Keeping my fingers crossed everything settles. Bad news is the arthritis in his hips is worse, so now I have two dogs with dodgy hips! Time to build some ramps mefinks!

And Jazmin, she doesn't go to classes any more but I've just started teaching her at home again. We always practice the basics when we're out and about anyway but she seems to be wanting to work again which is good. If you force her to do something it makes her cranky and she can be very stubborn! But I guess she needed a break. Her general behavior hasn't been too bad today but I dunno if I said, the latest habit is stealing. And growling at you when you try to take the stuff back. Think it's a last ditch attempt to remain alpha, as she is waiting for me to go through doors and asking to be let up on the bed and couch now, instead of barging her way in. I have been trying for a long time to get her to focus on me, treats and all! Sometimes it works, most of the time it doesn't. She will eventually come back tho, ignoring the bad behavior seems to be the best tactic with her.

I found some info on basic tracking training and started doing a little of that with her, she picked up quite a bit in 10 minutes so I'm hopeful. It does sound like the kind of thing she'd get into, and you don't need any fancy equipment, you can lay all the tracks yourself. There's plenty of fields and things round about here where I could do stuff with her, as all of it has to be done on a long lead until they get really advanced. Just as well for Jazmin, as she would be after the first bike or jogger if she were off. There are a few places she can get off, coz one is a big wood where no one goes, the other is where everyone walks their dog, and if the person has a dog she's completely relaxed with them. I did get her a halti when she was younger but what should've been her size was just a tiny bit small, and rubbed her sore and the size bigger was WAY too big! It fell off her nose! Going to hunt down different brands coz it really helped with her, but now she walks in a harness which is pretty good. Gives you a little more control over most of her, more secure and it doesn't rub her neck bald like she did pulling on her collar. She only pulls to and from the house but she pulls HARD! Also has the added advantage of a larger area to grab if required!
