Sorry to hear about Jazmin's hips. But there is some good news in there - that it could have been worse. There is two good things in her favour - one, she couldn't hope for a better owner to help her through and two, its manageable.

I just had a thought... if you really want to get into some kind of sociable doggy activity that is safe for her - why don't you try and find some people with dogs in a similar situation? People have breed clubs and stuff - why not "the dodgy hips club"! there are so many doggy activities that the less nimble can do - even group walks are nice and fun.

My dog loves "hide and seek" but with his toy or biscuit - he stays in the kitchen and I go around the house and hide his toy/biscuit. Then I release him to go find. It works his nose more than his body - so he can play it even when he isn't so good. (He loves it so much if you offer him a biscuit bone - he looks at me as if to say - well, aren't you going to hide it first - and won't eat it until I do!).

Plain old obedience classes are still fun - even if you aren't competing you can still join in - our class has my decrepid old boy along with another dog that sustained a lot of internal damage when he was hit by a car and can't quite keep the pace up - we just pop in and out of the class depending on how our dog is going. Need to find a nice sociable club though - and then the dogs love it as they just see it as a chance to see their mates really!

I do rave about Sasha's Blend. I have only heard good things about it - and it helps my dog immensely (plus, whilst it smells to me a bit like dead fish, the dogs seem to LOVE the taste!)

Try and keep positive - whenever I feel down that my young dog has such an erchy condition - I think of a lady I know who lost her very much loved young male dog to snakebite last year and think, well, at least my dog is still alive and should have a pretty okay life.

Trust your dogs are happy! (I know they are spoilt rotten!)

p.s. Yep, lets all say thanks to whoever invented pet medical insurance!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
