I haven't logged on for quite a while - and boy... was so sad to hear about all you have had to go through. Seems to have been quite a traumatic time Netti - hope it has all calmed down somewhat. That is one amazing dog you have there - he seems to pull through things that other dogs don't make it through - he must have an amazing will to live (but I suppose he knows how much he is loved!).
I hadn't seen the post about Jazmin before today either. Have you had the xray results yet? And try and think positive. I know its hard - its awful when a young dog is sick - but if the worse happens and she does have it you have got it early and can minimise its impact on her life. Have a look for something like that Sasha's Blend that I use - even if its not dysplasia - I can't praise it enough for the spondylosis. But I agree about the agility - if in doubt don't do it. After my boy was diagnosed I did a bit of research and there was a bit there about how agility could possibly cause spondylosis. Personally, I think it just aggravates it. But I know I'm glad I stopped it. I do miss the fun of it though and I'm sure he does too. I suppose its like thinking of the dog as an athlete - and athletes need to be in top condition. But there is no reason you can't go and do weaving and tunnels and stuff - its just the A-Frame and teh jumps that might not be too good. I'm sure your vet will be able to advise you. Mine told me to stop both agility and obedience (the homeopathic one cleared the obedience). Actually, we are back having a ball at obedience school and I'm even thinking of trialing him again - he's a bit tentative about the stands for examination though (do you blame him after all those vets poking around!). Netti - I've a young dog who will have a condition for the rest of his life - but he has a full life again now - okay, the walks are shorter and there is no more agility - but we do other stuff that is just as much fun. Rather than go for a two hour hilly walk we have a short one and then go share a bone with a friend. BUT, hopefully, Jazmin will get the all clear. I just think they are two very very lucky dogs to have an owner like you! And I think they might just know that!
