I am keeping it until its shell is better (applying betadine) but I need to know how long it can go without eating or drinking. I haven't seen it do either. I want it to be healed but I don't want it to starve! Please help!

I would suggest taking it back to another vet..preferable one that specializes in turtles. The turtle probable should be on some antibiotics and other care. This is a very traumatic situation for the turtle, and I'm sure it's not eating do to stress and trauma.
