Oh my gosh! I've never heard of such a thing, but I watch a lot of animal shows on TV so it wouldn't surprise me. I've seen quite a few "strange" things.
Yes there are places to get the carts, I'm not sure where. You might just want to search the web or see if there is an animal Orthopedic doctor near you.
Check all the animal sites that have medical question boards and ask as many questions as you can. Have you found anything on the internet about this type medical problem?
If your baby isn't in any pain and you can manage his inability to walk, I can't see any reason to put him down. The primary thing would be to make sure he isn't suffering in any way.
Please keep us posted and if I find anything, I will let you know.
Here are a couple of links that you could post these questions on.

Hello, I'm new to this board. I have 2 golden retrievers named Goldy and Vince. I have a problem with Vince. Vince had always had a chewing problem and chews everything in his reach. 4 days ago we noticed Vince wasn't acting himself and so we called the vet he said he had a cold and gave him some injections. The next day he wasn't better and we found out he hasn't urinated nor defecated, we gave him laxatives but they didn't really work. Yesterday in the afternoon he fell and couldn't get up and the vet said its because he couldn't really use his back legs properly because of the pressure from his intestines. We gave him more laxatives last night but they didn't work again but then this morning he urinated and the vet sprayed a liquid into his intestines via anus and we managed to get everything out it seems like a rock was blocking the intestines but we're not sure if there is also something else we don't know of so we're still using the laxative but not as much as before. After that Vince still couldn't stand up and the vet said that maybe the pressure has caused the nerves around his hind legs some damage and he said if he doesn't get stronger by tomorrow we might have to put him down and that he had a 95% chance of being paralysed and a 5% to 3% chance of getting better. I was hoping if any of you know any alternatives to putting him down if he doesn't get better by tomorrow because I once saw a picture of a dog with his hind legs on a trolley so I was thinking maybe we can use a small trolley to put his hind legs in and with some physiotherapy we may get him walking again but anything rather than put him down but I will only put him down if its our only option. Thanks a lot for your help.
