:Hi, I have an 11 years old cocker spaniel and he's blind in one eye and the other is beginning to cloud. He's generally ok, just blind. Thanks for listening (or reading!)

My cousin's dog Zakk a black lab has been blind for many years now. While he no longer can experience the joy of the hunt (he was a hunting dog) he manuvers a house with a 5 year old and a 2.5 year old and always manages to know where he is at. I know of many cats as well who have dealt with this problem as well, in fact i hung out with one on saturday that is blind in one eye from distemper (she fully recovered short of the blindness and an irritable tummy). One thing I have heard many times is to not move furnishings. Much like humans your dog will memorize its surroundings. While my cousin would love to leave larger childrens toys (playhouses ect) in the living room, he cant because it would cause problems for sweet Zakk. May your cocker feel your love thru the rest of its days. Seeing them thru or not seeing at all.
