I don't know why we want to beat ourselves up over these things. It must be fairly normal because there is a myriad of information written about it.

There is an article written by Ginger-lyn Summer about dealing with guilt. I found it to be very helpful and informative. I highly recommend that you read it. I think it would be helpful for both you and STREAXGIRL and anyone else that is having problems with guilt.

Guilt

I'm glad that you find coming here has been helpful. We all have been through most of the same things. Although we each grieve in our own way, it is equally as difficult for each of us.

I read an article that said, that we grieve so hard and long for our loved ones indicates that we have a deep capacity for love. We are lucky really. Think of how sad it would be to not have had that love with an animal or family member. When I think of those that say, "it's just a" dog, cat, bird, snake, etc. I feel sorry for them. They must feel kind of hollow inside.

I will stop now for fear that this will get preachy and that's not what I want. Please keep coming and talking to us. Together we will get through it. Don't forget that we have Grief Support chats 7 nights per week. Go to the main Pet Loss page and click on the Day/Time given for the chat. That should take you right to the chat room.

Hello,

:It's me again. I don't know if it is stages that some people go through but I now have guilt that I should have been able to save Charlie. Just all these thoughts go into my head. I wake up all times of the night wondering was he choking and I could have saved him, was it the arthitis medication, etc...

:It's been 2-1/2 weeks now. I don't cry everyday which makes me feel so guilty. I went and got my hair cut and I cried all night because I felt guilty (like i was moving on).

:I think that posting on this site has helped me though. Everyone's kind words has made it a little easier. Thank you for your kind words.

:Kim
