Hi
I am so sorry for your loss. 5 weeks is very early days to get over the grief of losing someone so special. Its been 2 years since I lost my dog Sam and like you I had never felt that way over a pet before and I was like a lost soul. The missing her has never gone away but the hurt has eased, its different for everyone but in time it will lessen.
