"Jack" is 80% of the time a sweet,smart,loving dog. My parents have had him since he was 8 weeks old he went to obedience classes and is trained pretty well. I and my boyfriend moved to my parents house to be with my dad when my mom left him. I have been around "Jack" from the beginning and since I go to school full-time and don't work I am with him the most. My father babies him and has a hard time disciplining him when he is bad, for example when "Jack" takes something my dad uses treats to get him to drop it. He is a very smart dog so he takes anything and everything around my dad to get treats. My boyfriend and I don't do that we firmly tell him to drop it and he does and we don't give him a treat. "Jack" will growl and show his teeth and has lunged at me, but hasn't bit me yet when I attempt to take away food or anything else that he doesn't want to give up for whatever reason. That behavior has calmed down he seems to respect my authority a little bit more as far as my boyfriend goes it isn't a problem he has never let "Jack" get away with anything plus he has a loud deep voice. My problem now is "jack" growls at me when I pet and hug him. I don't hug him hard or pet him hard I never have and it never used to be a problem it started only 2 weeks ago and he doesn't do it to anyone else. I love "Jack" very much I have never in any way harmed him or have ever made him think I would we have always had a good relationship and since I spend the majority of the time with him he is close to me. My dad is clearly "Jacks" favorite, but my dad spoils him and treats him like a little kid and "Jack" responds to that. "jack" is also more aggressive towards me when my dad is around. Please tell me what to do I am at a loss I love "Jack" very much and want to see him get better.
