I just put down my beloved Sparky last week. It is the hardest thing to do, and I stayed with him until the end. I made the appointment, but then at the last minute I almosted cancelled. What convinced me to do it for Sparky was making a list of everything he loved to do. Walks, play with toy, etc. Then on that list, how much can he still do? It was the quality of life for me that convince me that Sparky was not happy and would be in a better place.

Do I feel guilt and regret afterwards? Sure. Everyday. But deep in my heart I still know that Sparky is better off. And that guilt lessons every day.
