:Our new cat, Abby, was a stray. She was using the litter box for about a week, now she is going right next to it on the rug. What do I do?

First I would take her to the vet to rule out any infections going on inside, second have you changed the litter? Or cleaning it out everyday. Some cat's don't like dirty litter boxes.
