Cat's behavior change

I have a cat who will be 10 years old this spring who has always been frightened and skittish. She would usually hide, coming out only to eat and use the bathroom, and occasionally receive some attention from only my boyfriend or me. We also have a 9 year old male cat and a 10 year old boxer/pug mix, whom she just ignores. All of our pets are in very good health.

My boyfriend and I went on vacation over the holidays and were gone for 8 days. We took our dog to a family member's home, and we had friends stopping by our home every day to feed and play with the cats. When we returned from vacation, the female cat's behavior changed drastically. She still couldn't care less about the other animals but is now friendly with people and will seek out attention. She's even started to sit in my lap, which she's NEVER done before.

It's been almost a month, and she hasn't reverted back to her old behavior. I know that any drastic behavior changes are supposed to be signs of ill health. But, is also that the case when the behavior change is positive? Should I be concerned?
