:We have recently aquired a dachshund as a pet. Eight months old, healthy and full of beans. What we didn't count on was such a strong body odour.
:He has a beautiful shiney coat, so I don't really want to start bathing him, or do anything that might result in drying out of the coat. Currently I'm using a pet wipe that has aloe vera on it - but the effect lasts about 5 minutes!
:Can anyone advise us on a safe and effective way to keep down the odour? Much appreciated.

Congrats on your new puppy...even thou the dog's coat is shiny it is ok to give your puppy a bath once a month. To help with not drying out the coat, I would suggest getting a moisturizing dog shampoo or one that is mild. The odor is caused by dirt and decaying skin flakes...so a bath once in a while won't hurt them.
