Labs are prone to weight problems, so feeding schedules and amounts certainly is an issue to be concerned about.

My recommendation would be to cut him back to 2 meals a day - one measured cup each - morning and evening. See how he does. I was feeding my dogs 3x a day, but cut back to 2 and they are fine. You can always mix in some peas, beans or carrots to fill him up without filling him out.
