:I know we need euthanization to control our animal population, but I believe they should only be euthanized if they are sick, or hurt badly, to be put out of misery. An animal has been in enough pain, not having an owner or someone to love them, why kill it? Why not transfer it to another shelter, one not so full? Another reason why nuetering or spaying is a nessecity!

Bana...I agree with you 100%, I know in my area most animals are adopted out that can be adopted out. But there are some who fall through the cracks, these ones would be ones that are deemed unadoptable for one way or another. Such as confiscated APBT's, not everyone agrees that these dogs can or cannot be saved. They are tested and fail for one reason or another. The only shelter around here that puts animals down is the MSPCA, they do work well with another local shelter who doesn't put down. But if they are full and no one adopts or claims these dogs they get put down. Most of the euthanasia's they have told me they do is cats. Which is sad! These are cats they deem as feral, which with proper love and care they can be adopted out, but the question is who wants too and has the time?
