:JLD Thanks for the link!!
:Your the best...:) Let's find some unnecessary laws....
:Flea
Sad to say, it isn't that there are too many unnecessary laws, it's that there aren't enough necessary laws to help most species of animal out. :(
I think if people were actually to read the laws in many states and relate that to the number of animal cruelty cases that go unheard, unprosecuted and uncared about it would shock them. Animals are not as protected as people are lead to believe.
I for one would love to see broader legislation passed vs. the current reg recently passed that makes birds, rats and mice "not animals".
Now don't get me wrong, I am not so pro-animal that I don't eat meat or wear leather, etc. HOWEVER I do think that no matter what type of animal or what its primary purpose is that it deserves to be treated humanely. In fact I think the current PETA campaign to get people to stop using medicines that have been tested on animals is not only disgusting but eriibly terribly dangerous! I don't know whether or not my diabetes medication was tested on animals but I do know that without it I would get very sick and possibly die.
There are always going to be extremes on every side but in the end I would like to see animal laws that apply as equally as possibe to all animals, not see the few pieces of good current legislation taken away.
