Thanks for your replys. Buford is settling in great! He does have a problem with separation so thanks for the tip on leaving an article of clothing for him. We have 2 other dogs that he has really bonded to, so I think, that he thinks, he is never really alone even if were not home and thats helping alot. We are trying our best to leave him for short periods so hopefully he will get the idea that we will always come back. This goof who was dumping Buford actually called here to see how he was doing. He spoke with my husband and of course everything Buford has gone through is somebody elses fault. It's the breaders fault he's underweight, is his buddy's fault he's full of fleas, blah blah blah. This guy really does'nt think he's done anything wrong. It amazes me how absolutly stupid people can be. On a better note. Buford is a real hit at the dog park. He's getting alot of good food and exersize and loving every minute of it. What ever you give a dog they certainly give a 100 times back.We could use a little help though. Buford is a real food thief, who could blame him, but he jumps up on the table and counter tops. All I do is say EH, EH, no and remove him from the kitchen. We don't leave anything appealing out and are using the back elements to cook on. I'm affraid he'll jump up and get burnt. I am teaching him sit and wait while I prepare his or our food otherwise his nose is inbetween me and the counter. If anyone has any tips on correcting this counter surfing I would appreciate it. The bad "habits" Buford comes with are pretty minor considering. Thanks for your help.
:::Bless you...for giving this dog a wonderful..caring forever home. He sounds like he has been bounced around so much that he probably is afraid of what may lie in the future. I think with alot of love and time..he will discover that he is not going anywhere and neither are you. I think God smiled down on the earth...when he saw another of his precious creatures being rescued. I probably would have bit the guy abusing the dog. :-)

:What a lucky dog to have been found by you! I have a suggestion, based on my experience with an insecure dog. Leave some of your dirty clothes around for him to have when you're gone. It might comfort him in your absence.
