::Bless you...for giving this dog a wonderful..caring forever home. He sounds like he has been bounced around so much that he probably is afraid of what may lie in the future. I think with alot of love and time..he will discover that he is not going anywhere and neither are you. I think God smiled down on the earth...when he saw another of his precious creatures being rescued. I probably would have bit the guy abusing the dog. :-)

What a lucky dog to have been found by you! I have a suggestion, based on my experience with an insecure dog. Leave some of your dirty clothes around for him to have when you're gone. It might comfort him in your absence.
